Dollar Rent A Car was founded in 1965 in Los Angeles, California, USA and in 1994 was moved to the city of Tulsa Oklahoma to establish operations as a worldwide headquarter offices.

In México, Dollar Rent A Car began operations in 1982 as independent license but it was in October 2005 in which the international brand gave to Garpa Arrenda, S.A. de C.V. the rights to represent Dollar Rent A Car in México with corporate offices in Guadalajara.

At this moment, Dollar Rent A Car in México has operations in the main tourist destinations and business cities:
Cancún, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, La Paz, Cozumel, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Guadalajara, Monterrey, México City, Mexicali.
